Last year Steve Giddins started a series on chess problems at the ChessBase website. Sadly, after only a few episodes, it was learned that Steve would not be continuing. Luckily, a replacement expert was found and he is BCPS member and top chess solver David Friedgood, also well-known as the sub-editor of the chess problem section of the British Chess Magazine for many years before Christopher Jones took over.
David used his first article to introduce himself and also presented two of his own compositions. He followed this with a classic #2 by Michael Lipton and a #3 by Helmut Pruscha, both illustrating the popular Novotny theme. David’s second article contained full solutions and explanations. A series to follow with interest!
